Description

During this private shore excursion you will visit two summer estates in one day: the extravagant Village of the Tzars and Pavlovsk, a family nest of Paul I. In Catherine's Palace, you will see  the unique Amber Room carefully restored by the best Russian craftsmen. Only a short ride later, you will find yourself in the Park of Pavlovsk, which is the largest landscape park in Europe. Visit Pavlovsk Palace, an elegant family residence in classical and eclectic style with an abundance of paintings, sculpture, and furniture of the time. At the end of the tour, your knowledgeable and friendly guide will escort you to the Church on the Spilled Blood and show you other remarkable places of sights of St Petersburg.

After meeting the guide in the port terminal, head to the city of Pushkin, where the favorite palace of Catherine the Great is located. Tsarskoe Selo (the Village of the Tsars) was the place of official receptions of the nobility of Russia and foreign diplomats. It is a magnificent set of parks and palaces, which demonstrates the Russian and European artistic culture of the eighteenth century. You will dive into the atmosphere of the 18th century by walking along the strict lines of the French garden and passing by the Golden Enfilade during the tour of Catherine's Palace. The Dancing Hall of the Palace will remind you of a Disney fairy tale about Princess Anastasia. The jewel of the excursion is visiting the legendary Amber Room, which is also recognized as the eighth wonder of the world. After walking in the park, you will have a lunch break in a local Russian cuisine restaurant.

It will take just a short ride (15 min) to arrive at the next splendid suburban palace built especially for Paul I as his family residence. Pavlovsk Palace will surprise you with the atmosphere of elegance and abundance of authentic family belongings saved during WWII. As it was the family nest for Paul and his wife Maria, you will see how the emperors lived outside of the capital and learn about their tastes and hobbies. It is also worth knowing that the Park of Pavlovsk is one of the biggest landscape parks in Europe. A ride back to St Petersburg will take approximately 1 hour.

Once back to the city, we will enjoy a panoramic city tour with an excursion to the Church of our Savior on the Spilled Blood – an amazing cathedral in a romantic Russian style, decorated with a unique collection of mosaics. On your way back to the port you will see the Nevsky prospect, the Kazan Cathedral, the Zinger House, Palace Square and other spectacular sights.

Please note: the actual starting and ending time will be adjusted in accordance with cruise ship's schedule. The order of the sightseeing may change depending on days of the week, museum opening hours, and traffic. On Wednesday, the Church on the Spilled Blood is closed, you will visit St Peter & Paul Cathedral instead (the burial place of the Russian Tsars).
At the time of booking each cruise ship passenger is required to provide his passport data in order to obtain the tour ticket, which allows entering Russia visa-free.
